Online Educational Resources about the 3 weeks and Tisha B'Av

Shalom.

Tisha B'Av is the saddest day on the Jewish calendar because of the incredible series of tragedies which occurred on that date throughout Jewish History.

Tisha B'Av means "the ninth (day) of the Hebrew month of Av." Tisha B'Av primarily commemorates the destruction of the first and second Temples, both of which were destroyed on the ninth of Av (the first by the Babylonians in 586 B.C.E.; the second
by the Romans in 70 C.E.).

Although this day is primarily meant to commemorate the destruction of the Temple, it is appropriate to consider on this day the many other tragedies of the Jewish people, many of which occurred on this day, most notably the expulsion of the Jews from Spain in 1492.

You can learn more about this Jewish fast day (July 20, 2010) at:
www.jr.co.il/hotsites/j-hdayav.htm

May we see the rebuilding of the Temple in our days and that Tisha B'Av becomes a day of celebration.

New Website: Learn English with Jokes and Riddles

Hi Everyone!

I have a new website called:
Learn English with Jokes and Riddles
www.learn-english-jr.com

There are over 300 jokes and riddles in the database.
All jokes and riddles are suitable for all ages.

The site allows you to browse through the jokes sequentially or choose a specific topic. If you do not have time to read all the jokes now, you can start from a specific joke number the next time you visit. There is also a random button which will display a random joke from the database.

The system has a joke basket where you can add your favorite jokes and then print them out. Reading English jokes and riddles can be a fun activity in your English class. Even native English speakers will find jokes and riddles that are worth telling their friends.

Please share this site. Thanks!

Your feedback / comments about this new site are welcome.

Enjoy!
Have a good day,
