Hi Everyone!
This evening I took a free ride on the Jerusalem Light Rail. I started at Shuk Machane Yehuda and ended at Amunition Hill. The ride took 33 minutes. Once the traffic lights are adjusted, the ride should be much faster.
I took a video of the whole trip and edited it down to 12 minutes.
I posted the video online at:
www.jr.co.il/videos/jerusalem-light-rail.htm
You can also view the video on Youtube at:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aaNOhhcbZtQ
Note: The first time you watch this video, there may be downloading delays due to the large file size (344 meg). The second time you watch it, the video will play smoothly from your local disk cache. If your Internet connection is below 5 meg, the download may take a long time.
If you like the video, please share it with friends and give it a "like" on Youtube, Facebook or Google Plus.
Thanks!
Enjoy!
An early Shabbat Shalom,
Jacob

27 years in Israel
Hi Everyone!
27 years ago, on August 30, 1984, I made aliyah. It was one day after my English birthday and I remember that my uncle came to meet me at the airport.
I did not take photos and I do not remember anyone else there. However, it was one of the most important days of my life and it was the start of a great adventure.
This is the place were Jewish history is being made and I believe that this is the only place to really live a full Jewish life.
May the aliyah from all over the world grow and bring more Jews back to their homeland, Eretz Yisrael.
Chodesh Tov,
Jacob

Welcome Home to the New Olim (and 276 photos)
Hi Everyone!
Congratulations and welcome home to the 360 new olim that made aliyah to Israel from North America. The NBN aliyah charter flight arrived in Israel on Tuesday morning and included 120 children in 52 families and 133 singles. The youngest oleh in the group is 5 months old and the oldest oleh is 82 years old. The flight also included 10 dogs, 1 cat and 1 snake.
I took 276 photos of the exciting, historic event and I posted them online at:

Shalom.
Tisha B'Av is the saddest day on the Jewish calendar because of the incredible series of tragedies which occurred on that date throughout Jewish History.
Tisha B'Av means "the ninth (day) of the Hebrew month of Av." Tisha B'Av primarily commemorates the destruction of the first and second Temples, both of which were destroyed on the ninth of Av (the first by the Babylonians in 586 B.C.E.; the second by the Romans in 70 C.E.).
Although this day is primarily meant to commemorate the destruction of the Temple, it is appropriate to consider on this day the many other tragedies of the Jewish people, many of which occurred on this day, most notably the expulsion of the Jews from Spain in 1492.
You can learn more about this Jewish fast day (begins Monday evening, August 8, 2011) at:
http://www.jr.co.il/hotsites/j-hdayav.htm
May we see the rebuilding of the Temple in our days and that Tisha B'Av becomes a day of celebration.
If you are fasting: Have a meaningful fast.
Jacob
